The device name, Infratonic, is derived from the word infrasonic which means electromagnetic spectrum frequencies below 100 Hz. (cycles per second).  Infrasonic frequencies below 20 Hz. are inaudible.  Inaudibility notwithstanding, Infratonic tones are very low frequency (vibrations) which generate a powerful physical force that can be felt throughout the human organism.  These frequencies dramatically affect the body and mind; and they can tone specific organs, glands, and tissues -- as  decades of scientific research determined.

The Infrasound 8000 device (also known as Infratonic 8000) is an extremely powerful electromagnetic chaotic infratonic (infrasonic) frequency generator.  It generates electromagnetic spectrum frequencies below 20 Hz. that travel at speeds up to 1,220 kilometers (760 miles) per hour at sea level.  However, it is not to be confused with your father's therapeutic massager.  Although it does produce a vibration, it does not do its work through physical massage produced by vibratory motion.  Hence, it is not a vibrator.  Rather, it is an acoustical massager, which means it does its work with electromagnetic (sound) waves; in this case, low frequency, very slow, sound waves. 

The type of acoustical therapy with which most people are accustomed to in the United States of America is ultrasound.  Ultrasound devices generate ultrasonic waves, or electromagnetic (sound) waves beyond the range of the human ear's capacity to hear.  These sound waves are produced at the rate of 20,000 Hz -- 20,000 sound waves per second -- fast and hot.  The Infratonic 8000 is at the other end of the acoustical spectrum -- the low frequency sound range -- lower than 20 Hz -- slow and cool.  In addition to the slow speed, the sound waves are generated at a random frequency -- no two consecutive waves are produced at the same frequency.  Their slow, gentle action produces a massage without human hands having to touch the body.  The benefits to living tissue are positive.

Perhaps the best way to quickly understand the concept of entrainment is to talk about it in terms related to the brain.  If external stimulus is applied to the brain, it becomes possible to entrain the brain frequency from one stage to another.  For example, if a person is in beta stage (highly alert) and a stimulus of 10Hz is applied to his or her brain for some time, the dominant and most often broadcast brain frequency is likely to change towards that of the applied stimulus.  In this example, the effect would be relaxing to the person.  This phenomenon is also called frequency following response - the process evokes entrainment.
